Account & Data Deletion
Effective Date: July 23, 2026
Last Updated: July 23, 2026
Delete Your GharKhoj Account
Option 1: Delete from the GharKhoj App
Open the app, go to your Profile/Account section, and select Delete Account. This is the fastest and safest method.
Option 2: Submit an Online Request
If you have already uninstalled the app or cannot log in, submit a deletion request via our online web portal form.
Important: Logging out of the application or uninstalling it from your device **does not** delete your account or associated data from our servers. You must explicitly submit a request or use the in-app option.
GharKhoj respects users’ ability to control their accounts and personal data.
This Account & Data Deletion Policy explains how users can request deletion of their GharKhoj account, what happens after a deletion request, what information is generally deleted or anonymized, and when limited information may need to be retained.
This Policy should be read together with the GharKhoj Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
1. Ways to Request Account Deletion
If you have a GharKhoj account, you may request deletion using either of the following methods.
Option 1 — Delete Your Account From the GharKhoj App
If you can access your account:
- Open the GharKhoj app.
- Go to your Profile/Account section.
- Select Delete Account.
- Review the deletion information displayed.
- Confirm your request.
Where available, this is generally the simplest method for requesting deletion while authenticated.
Option 2 — Request Deletion Through Our Website
If you no longer have the GharKhoj app, cannot access your account, have already uninstalled the app, or prefer to submit a web request, you may use our online account-deletion request mechanism.

GharKhoj may ask for limited information reasonably necessary to identify the relevant account and verify that the request is legitimate.
2. Information Required for a Web Deletion Request
To locate and verify your account, we may request limited information such as:
- the mobile number associated with your GharKhoj account;
- the email address associated with your sign-in method, where relevant;
- your GharKhoj display name, where useful;
- the reason for the request, optionally; and
- other limited information reasonably necessary to identify or verify the account.
Please provide information that matches the account you want deleted. Never submit through the deletion form: your Google password, authentication credentials, OTPs, UPI PINs, bank passwords, Aadhaar/PAN cards, or identity documents. GharKhoj will never request banking passwords, UPI PINs, or Google passwords to process account deletion.
3. Verification of Deletion Requests
We may take reasonable steps to confirm that a person requesting deletion is authorized to request deletion of the relevant account. This is necessary to reduce the risk of someone maliciously requesting deletion of another person’s account.
Verification may involve matching appropriate account information or using another proportionate verification method. The information required will depend on the circumstances and the authentication methods available.
4. What Happens When Your Account Is Deleted
Once a valid account-deletion request has been processed, GharKhoj will take reasonable steps to delete, anonymize, or de-link personal data associated with the account, subject to legitimate and legally permitted retention requirements. Depending on the information associated with the account, this may include:
- user profile information & account identifiers;
- display-name linked to the deleted profile;
- mobile number associated with the account;
- profile photograph or profile-image reference;
- authentication records under GharKhoj's control;
- push-notification tokens;
- saved favourites & preferences;
- active property listings and photos.
Deletion of the GharKhoj account does not necessarily delete the user’s underlying Google Account or any other independent third-party account.
5. Property Listings After Account Deletion
When a property lister deletes their GharKhoj account, their active property listings should no longer remain publicly available as active listings associated with that deleted account. Listings may be removed, soft-deleted, or de-linked from the deleted account.
6. Property Images
Property photographs are stored using third-party cloud-storage infrastructure, such as Cloudflare R2. When an account or associated listing is deleted, GharKhoj will process associated images according to its deletion and retention procedures. Deletion from active storage may not result in instantaneous disappearance from backups, caches, or content-delivery systems.
7. Chat Messages
Account deletion requires special handling for messages because a conversation may involve more than one user. Deleting your account does not necessarily mean every historical message must immediately disappear from another participant’s conversation where retention remains reasonably necessary or legally permitted. GharKhoj will minimize continued association with deleted personal identifiers.
8. Reports, Complaints and Moderation Records
Reports, complaints, moderation decisions, fraud-prevention records, and related information may sometimes need to be retained after account deletion for safety, dispute, or legal compliance reasons. Deleting an account does not automatically invalidate legitimate complaints or legal records relating to prior activity.
9. Information That May Be Retained
Even after an account-deletion request, limited information may be retained where reasonably necessary or permitted by applicable law (e.g. compliance, security, audits, court orders). We do not retain personal data indefinitely merely because an account once existed.
10. Analytics and Aggregated Information
Account deletion may not require deletion of information that has already been irreversibly anonymized or aggregated so that it can no longer reasonably be linked to the deleted individual.
11. Google Sign-In
Deleting your GharKhoj account does not delete your Google Account. Your Google Account is independently controlled by Google. Account deletion from GharKhoj means deletion of the GharKhoj account and associated data under GharKhoj’s control.
12. Firebase and Technical Service Data
Firebase technical data (like notification tokens) will be invalidated. Crash reports or diagnostic events are anonymized and retained according to operational configurations.
13. Advertising Data
Deleting a GharKhoj account does not delete independent Google AdMob profiles or device-level advertising IDs, which are controlled independently by Google.
14. How Long Does Deletion Take?
GharKhoj will process valid deletion requests within a reasonable period. Complete removal from backups, caches, and logs may require additional time because of technical retention cycles.
15. Uninstalling the App Does Not Delete Your Account
Uninstalling GharKhoj from your phone does not automatically delete your GharKhoj account or associated server-side data. You must explicitly request account deletion.
16. Logging Out Does Not Delete Your Account
Logging out of GharKhoj does not delete your account. Your account and associated data may remain available when you sign in again.
17. Deactivation Is Not Account Deletion
If GharKhoj introduces account deactivation, deactivation will be treated separately from permanent deletion. Merely deactivating or disabling an account does not qualify as account deletion.
18. Can a Deleted Account Be Restored?
Once permanent account deletion has been fully processed, the account and its deleted data cannot be restored.
19. Deleting Specific Content Without Deleting Your Account
Users can manage specific content (like marking listings as rented or removing favorites) without deleting their entire account. For other data erasure requests:
